Jessica Hockett has been a full-time education consultant for 13 years, specializing in interactive and differentiated instruction, curriculum and assessment design, gifted education, classroom grouping practices, and program evaluation. Her work with over 125 schools, districts, and organizations has supported a wide range of initiatives centered on improving teacher and student learning. She is the co-author three books: Differentiation in Middle & High School: Strategies to Engage All Learners, Differentiation in the Elementary Grades: Strategies to Engage & Equip All Learners (ASCD), and Exam Schools: Inside America’s Most Selective Public High Schools (Princeton University Press). Other publications include academic articles and book chapters, handbooks, journal articles, news editorials, and education blogs.
As an Instructor in the University of Virginia Curry School of Education Online Masters programs, Jessica has taught graduate courses in differentiated instruction, assessment, and creativity & problem solving. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Virginia (PhD), University of Connecticut (MA), & National-Louis University (MAT). Prior to doctoral study, Jessica was a secondary teacher in both general education and gifted programs.
