She has worked extensively as a teacher, coach, and administrator in independent and international schools, including the U.S., Spain, the Middle East, and Asia, and has consulted with schools around the world to support their professional development and instructional goals.

Wiggins is the author of The Best Class You Never Taught: How Spider Web Discussion Can Turn Students into Learning Leaders (ASCD), which highlights how student-led, inquiry-based discussions can transform classroom dynamics, engage learners, and empower students to take ownership of their learning. Her work focuses on equipping teachers with the tools and strategies to foster high-level student inquiry and meaningful assessment practices, ensuring that students not only learn content but develop critical thinking and leadership skills.

In her current role as the Director of Teaching and Learning at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, TX, Wiggins continues to lead innovative initiatives in curriculum development, instructional strategy, and assessment. Her workshops at schools and conferences are known for being dynamic and interactive, offering practical, research-based strategies that teachers and administrators can implement immediately. Through her work, Alexis Wiggins strives to inspire educators to rethink traditional teaching models and embrace methods that place students at the center of the learning process. Alexis has spent half of her life in independent schools, both as a student and as a teacher/administrator, and is especially interested in helping K-12 independent schools engage in effective professional development and collaboration that leads to lasting change in curriculum, teaching, and assessment.
